Access to Clean Water

Clean water is essential for supporting education, health, and sustainable livelihoods. One of the most critical challenges faced by the Maasai community is the lack of access to safe drinking water. Urban development and infrastructure projects have disrupted natural water sources, while population growth has significantly increased the demand for water. In addition, climate change and prolonged droughts have made water scarcity even more severe. Many Maasai families are forced to walk long distances to find water, which is often contaminated. This has serious health consequences, as consuming unsafe water leads to waterborne diseases and other health issues. Furthermore, the time and energy spent on fetching water detract from opportunities for education, work, and community development.

HOW WE CONTRIBUTE TO CLEAN WATER

On the organization’s property in Narok, we have constructed an underground water tank with a capacity of 10,000 liters. Our closest neighbor owns a private well, and a pipeline from their well passes through our property. This allows our tank to be continuously filled with clean water from their well. The tank is regularly cleaned to ensure the water remains safe for consumption. Local community members and the families we support have access to this water tank, providing them with a reliable source of clean drinking water.
