OUR WORK IN KENYA<\/h2><\/div>

Mara Action Aid works to provide Maasai children living in extreme poverty with education and a dignified childhood characterized by learning, play, and care. On our property outside Narok in Kenya, we run an education and activity program. We offer teaching and homework assistance, provide children with a meal, and facilitate organized activities and play. We financially support the children's education by covering school fees and the purchase of school supplies. Additionally, we assist their families with food and any other necessities they may require.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every child, regardless of background, deserves a future with real opportunities to escape poverty and live a dignified life. Quality education and a good childhood are key to achieving this. Our goal is that all the children in the area where we operate will have precisely that \u2013 a dignified childhood with a bright future.<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOW WE USE DONATED FUNDS<\/h2><\/div>

Our work is based on volunteerism and commitment. 100% of the support we receive goes directly to operating our education program, covering school fees, purchasing food, and acquiring other resources that support our mission. Remaining expenses (administration and salary in Kenya) are covered by the personal funds of our board members.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

We are building an education center!<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>

In collaboration with Architects Without Borders (AUG), we have designed an education center that will be built on our property in Kenya. Here, we will operate and enhance our education program to be even better and more extensive. We also plan to develop our own sports program. The center will be an open and secure learning environment for Maasai children in the surrounding area, contributing to providing more children with the opportunity to attend school and participate in sports. Additionally, we will have a dedicated program working to strengthen girls' rights and opportunities in life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, in Maasai culture, it is not uncommon for young girls to undergo circumcision and be married off at an early age. Ensuring education for young girls in the area is absolutely essential to prevent early marriages and circumcision. To bring about change for young Maasai girls, it is crucial to conduct awareness campaigns among their families and their local community. This will be a significant focus area as a part of our core mission as an education center, namely providing opportunities and freedom through education.<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of building the education center is to reach more children in the area, strengthen our education program, systematize and enhance the work on the rights and opportunities of Maasai girls, and establish a sports program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Contribution to Clean Water for the Community!<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>

In May 2024, we constructed a large water tank on our property outside Narok, Kenya, with a capacity of 10,000 liters. This tank ensures access to clean drinking water for the children we support and the local community, reduces the risk of waterborne diseases, and eliminates the need for women and children to walk long distances to fetch water. This saves time and significantly improves health and quality of life in the area.<\/p>\n

We have also built toilets on the property to promote better hygiene and sanitation for the children and families participating in our programs. These initiatives are part of our broader mission to create a safe and supportive environment for learning and development.<\/p>\n

Additionally, we are working on constructing classrooms for our education center, which will allow us to expand our capacity to offer quality education and organized activities for Maasai children. These projects reflect our commitment to improving health, education, and opportunities for the community we serve.<\/p>\n<\/div>
